The Joint Services Major Events Team for Northern Lincolnshire supports the Armed Forces Community Covenant across the region to ensure its on-going commitment in support of service personnel, their families, veterans and outreach services.
The team are accommodated by North East Lincolnshire Council and are volunteers with ex-service backgrounds and military service.
The team is responsible for organising the North East Lincolnshire's annual Armed Forces Day which has, over the last few years, attracted in excess of 60,000 people to the area.
Other work which the volunteers undertake is to assist in maintaining the dignity and integrity of civic/military functions for the borough.
From their main HQ at Knoll House on Cleethorpes the team also organise Remembrance Day ceremonies, Armistice Day functions and military ships visits to ports on the south bank of the Humber.
The team is established to also support and advise on all events and functions involving military and civil integration across the borough and, that protocols and processes are appropriately applied.
The Remembrance Gate and flag poles on Cleethorpes' sea front are the responsibility of the Armed Forces Major Events team - they approve any new plaques or changes to the existing ones.
